Qantas Flying Direct Perth to Johannesburg

Qantas have launched a direct Perth to Johannesburg service and will begin flying on November 1, 2022. 

This will be the only direct service from Perth to South Africa, with South African Airways ceasing their service in 2020. Qantas will operate 3 return flights per week on the Airbus A330 with 27 Business Class seats and 224 Economy seats, however no Premium Economy will be offered. The 11 hour flight will depart Perth at 3pm, arriving in Johannesburg at 8:15pm the same day, while the return flight departs Johannesburg at 10pm and arriving into Perth at 1:15pm the following day. 

This will cut more than 6 hours of travel time from the current fastest journey with passengers having to fly via Sydney or the Middle East prior to the November 1 launch date. 

There is a large South African community in Perth and this new service offers a more convenient option to visit family and friends. Initial availability has experienced strong demand with discount seats being snapped up for the rest of 2022. Better pricing is available after the Christmas/January school holidays. Qantas still operates 4 flights per week from Sydney to Johannesburg on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and after experiencing heavy demand, this will increase to daily flights from October 30.
