Lufthansa Relaunch A380 To Boston And New York
Lufthansa has announced the return of their superjumbo Airbus A380 from 1 June 2023. The airline originally had 14 of the aircraft but paused the service for 3 years during the pandemic. With 8 remaining, after selling 6, Lufthansa has decided to bring them back to meet surging travel demand and the delay delivery of their fleet of B787-9’s, which will feature the innovative new Lufthansa Business Class, ‘Allegris‘.
The first routes will operate between Munich and Boston and New York, with plans for 4 aircraft to be back in service by the end of 2023, all stationed in Munich, and new routes added. Daily flights will depart Munich on LH424 at 3:35pm, arriving into Boston at 6pm while LH425 will depart Boston at 8:30pm, arriving into Munich at 9:40am the following day. Daily flights will also depart Munich at LH410 at 11:55am, arriving into New York JFK at 2:55 while LH411 will depart New York JFK at 5:35pm, arriving into Munich at 7:15am the following day.
The A380 will provide 80% more capacity than is currently possibly on the A340-600 and will offer:
8 Lufthansa First Class open suites in a 1-2-1 configuration
78 Lufthansa Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration
52 Lufthansa Premium Economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration
371 Lufthansa Economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration
While the Business Class seats don’t all provide direct aisle access, Lufthansa has a variety of Business Class products on differing aircraft and routes and can be booked on the Lufthansa Business Class Global Fare.
