Air New Zealand opens new Brisbane lounge
Air New Zealand welcomed the first guests to its new lounge yesterday at Brisbane International Airport.
Located on the upper level next to Gate 81 (a prime location that wraps the corner of the terminal) it’s been architecturally designed and is significantly larger than its predecessor. It can accommodate almost 200 passengers, offering a number of unique spaces and 70% more seating than the previous space, so it’s a big improvement on that basis alone.
An air of spaciousness is apparent here, helped by the lighting and high ceilings. We particularly love the unique light feature near the buffet, representative of Brisbane’s Story Bridge. Features include large windows with views of the city, café area with self-service buffet and beverages, a children’s play area and family space, quiet corners and a business zone. Private shower suites with Antipodes amenities are also available for those of you taking on a long-haul flight.
Air New Zealand brought in award winning US-based designers Gensler on this one, the project being part of a four year $100 million investment by Air New Zealand to develop their lounge network and bring it up to today’s expected standard. The opening of the Brisbane lounge follows the completed re-development of their lounges in Sydney, Auckland (both International and Regional) and Invercargill.
Passengers accepted into the lounge include Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia Business Class, Star Alliance Gold, and Velocity Gold, Platinum and Club members.
