Fiji Airways Premier Lounge Review

On our recent flight from Nadi to Sydney, we were able to stop in at the Fiji Airways Premier Lounge in Nadi, Fiji. After a visit to the impressive Strata Lounge and Qantas International Business Class Lounge in Auckland, we were excited for this visit.

As our flight was scheduled for a 9.00am departure, we arrived at the lounge early in the morning and were surprised by how busy it was.

You can visit the Fiji Airways Premier Lounge when flying on a Round the World fare with oneworld or with Qantas. Why not stopover in tropical Fiji for a relaxing end to your trip! Have a look at our oneworld Business Class RTW fare or Qantas Business Class RTW fare to learn more. You can also fly on the Qantas Economy Class RTW fare– one of the best value fares on the market, especially in low and shoulder seasons. However, with this Economy fare, you will need to have Silver or more status with Qantas or Sapphire or more status with oneworld.

To get to the lounge, you will take an escalator down to the ground floor and see the Air New Zealand lounge first. Turn around and keep walking to reach the Fiji Premier Lounge – the lounge is well-signed so it’s easy to find!

We arrived at about 7.00am and after showing the receptionist our boarding pass we headed into the lounge. We were so surprised to see that almost every single seat in the lounge was taken!

The Premier Lounge itself is really spacious and has several seating areas and private spaces for working or relaxing. You will first find a variety of soft armchairs in groups, as well as a workstation room to the left. The workstation had multiple Macbooks to work on, all available for guests to use- it was a great addition!

Around the corner was another section that had cushion-lined seats in a pod. This space would be good for a quick nap or stretching out. Although, it was quite noisy so we don’t know how great it would have been for a longer sleep!

Back in the main section are more leather armchairs, a kids space, bathrooms and showers as well a central dining area. We managed to get one of  the last spots in the dining area which had restaurant-style seating. As you can imagine, it was a very crowded area with guests heading to the buffet or bar.

Fiji Airways Premier Lounge Food and Beverage

Breakfast was being served in the dining area as it was early in the morning.

We were delighted to see seven different hot food options available including rice porridge with condiments, grilled bacon, creamy spinach, smokey baked beans, hash browns, lamb and herb sausages and scrambled eggs.

The other options were limited but we must admit, were delicious. There was a range of fresh fruits available as well as pre-sliced pineapple, watermelon, carrot and cucumber. We LOVED the bircher muesli with toasted honey granola. There were so many flavours and the consistency was almost like a chia seed pudding but yoghurt.

There was also a huge range of different breads available including sourdough, white, wholemeal, multigrain, banana bread and a long loaf slice. For gluten-free guests, there were only two options of gluten-free bread and muffins. The only downside was that there weren’t any sandwich fillers around, only spreads like jam and marmalade. We would have liked to see more choices for toppings.

On offer were three pastries available when we looked, including plain croissants, chocolate and also blueberry muffins. The sign also said choc chip muffins however we couldn’t see any. We appreciated the fact that there were breakfast rolls available too that were of a traditional Fijian cuisine: savoury roti parcels with spicy green bean curry. Fiji Premier Lounge exhibited traditional food with a Fiji Bean Cart that had a description available to read. We love when lounges have some traditional foods available- it adds to the cultural experience of visiting the destination and also provides more options to the standard ‘American breakfast’. There was also a range of cereals, teas and an espresso machine.

In terms of service, we found it interesting that the bar was not self-service. Although all beverages were complimentary, it was different to what we have usually seen. Still, they had a range of spirits, liquors and wines available and were also making cocktails.

In addition to the espresso machine, there was also a barista making coffee and serving it to your table. We loved that there were little glass bottles of iced coffee in the fridge too! In terms of non-alcoholic beverages, we were very happy to see the soft drinks in cans as well as apple and orange juice available from either a carton or the dispenser.

Fiji Airways Premier Lounge Extras

We found that the bathrooms were clean and modern but really, nothing too special. There were also showers available for use, however we weren’t able to go in as they were always full! Since it was early in the morning, this is understandable, and you are actually able to book a shower with the staff who will give you a buzzer!

There is a kids play room called LaiLai Land and it has some toys, a TV and some beanbags in there. It’s fully enclosed with glass and located in the central seating area so it is great if you would like to keep an eye on your kids there while you sit on the outside.

One thing we were disappointed in is that there were no windows because the lounge is underground. Although it is well-lit, it could feel a little claustrophobic at times if you prefer looking out at the tarmac. Especially being in a sunny, tropical place like Fiji, we would have loved to have been able to soak up some sun in the lounge.

We also found it hard to find any power plugs for charging other than in the dedicated workstation.

Fiji Airways Premier Lounge Summary

The Fiji Premier Lounge had a decent selection of food that was really delicious, and we liked that they infused a bit of their local cuisine. We understand that the lounge is underground but we would have liked some more natural lighting within the venue.

We would recommend visiting the lounge before a flight! Just be careful about arriving early in the morning as it might be busy!

We definitely would suggest to have a tropical stopover in Fiji on your way home from a busy Round the World Trip. You are able to visit Fiji Airways Premier Lounge when flying on a Round the World fare with oneworld. Have a look at our oneworld Business Class RTW fare to learn more.
