SWISS First Class Review
We flew SWISS First class between LA and Zurich, as a part of a SWISS Global Fare. Take a look inside the exclusive First Class Cabin on SWISS’s flagship 777 aircraft and see what you can expect to onboard.
The First Class experience starts at check in at LA Airport with the offer of both an escort to the First Class lounge as well as an escort from the lounge to the plane. We had some time on our hands so decided not to head straight to the lounge but rather have a look around the airport first instead.
After spending some time in the Swiss First Class and Business class lounges it was time to head to the plane. Other passengers were escorted by a buggy which is an option for you if you do not wish to walk to the gate.
Being first class passengers we were the first to board and directed straight to the first class cabin.
SWISS First Class Cabin
The exclusive first class cabin consists of just 8 suites. Arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration with the middle seats being great for people travelling together and the window seats ideal for anyone travelling alone.
SWISS First Class Suite
The SWISS first class suites are extremely spacious stretching to over 2.1m long and 55cm wide. Alongside the seat is a shelf with a lamp, small drinks tray and your seat controls. A small compartment is located in the shelf with additional seat controls, your entertainment controller, a USB power point and room to store your phone while charging.
The suite has a lot of leg room, and is completely straight meaning there’s no narrowing of the bed or loss of space. Opposite the seat is a footstool, this forms a part of your bed when converted and can also be used as a guest seat if want to share a meal with a travel partner.
Above the footstool on the far end of your suite is a very large 32 inch entertainment screen which is packed with plenty of on demand movies, tv shows, music and more.
On the other side of your suite, is a dimmable reading light, along with plenty of storage options.
A drawer half the height of the suite wall pulls out from the side of your seat, while a full height ‘wardrobe’ pulls out from the foot end of your suite. This wardrobe provides additional storage space as well as doubling up as a door to your suite providing privacy.

SWISS First Class Bed
The SWISS first class bed is 1.9m long and 60cm wide, the bed is completely rectangular so there is no narrowing of the bed providing plenty of room. The SWISS first class flight attendants provide a turn down service and will make up your bed for you. I took the opportunity after dinner to change into my pyjamas while my suite was converted to a bed. The Swiss First Class bed is extremely comfortable with luxurious bedding. The adjustable seat means you can recline to watch your entertainment screen before reclining to a fully flat bed.
SWISS First Class Amenities
Upon boarding we were gifted a Bally amenity kit that was packed with inflight essentials, along with slippers and pyjamas. Noise cancelling headphones are also provided for your flight. The Pyjamas are a soft jersey fabric and come in a button up pouch that I found handy to store my clothes in.
WiFi is also available onboard the SWISS 777 aircraft, prices are set at 9 Swiss Francs (around $13 AUD) for 20MB or 19 Swiss Francs (around $28AUD) for 50MB. The service was very easy to use with a simple log on and payment system. We were gifted a 50MB voucher which the flight attendants handed out mid-flight. As it was a night flight, this was enough to log on for a short period, if this was a day flight or you were planning to work onboard however you would need a lot more then 50MB.
SWISS First Class Lounge Transfer
Upon landing in Zurich, SWISS offer first class passengers a direct plane to lounge ground transfer. Your flight is met on the tarmac by a dedicated SWISS mini-bus. Inside the mini-bus features seats and lamps echoing the onboard product. From the plane the mini-bus takes you directly to the SWISS First Class lounge via a private entrance.
