SWISS Airlines Launches Direct Flight To Seoul
SWISS AIRLINES LAUNCHED NONSTOP FLIGHT TO SEOUL UPDATE:
SWISS has begun its direct flights from Zurich to Seoul establishing itself into the Korean Market. “We are delighted to welcome SWISS to Korea. With 17 weekly flights, Lufthansa Group now operates non-stop services to Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich where we offer Korean passengers direct connections from our hubs to the largest network in Europe. We have connected Korea with Europe for 40 years and the introduction of flights with the national airline of Switzerland represents our commitment to this important market”, said Mr Leandro Tonidandel, SWISS’ General Manager for Korea.
SWISS Airlines is set to make history by introducing nonstop flights to Seoul, South Korea, for the first time. The Star Alliance member will commence thrice-weekly flights on 7 May, operating its Airbus A340 aircraft on the route. From the addition of this flight we should see greater round the world flight availability between continents.
The flight will depart Zurich for Seoul at 1:40pm every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, then return from Seoul at 9:55am on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday. This move will see SWISS airlines expand flight possibilities across Europe, while also adding new connectivity to the vibrant South Korean capital.
The Airbus A340-300 offers a total of 215 seats, with 8 First Class and 38 Business Class seats available. The SWISS First Class suites offer a 1-2-1 Priestmangoode designed interior, while SWISS Business Class will offer an alternating 1-2-1, 2-2-1 configuration, all equipped with fully flat beds.
With the A340’s set to retire next year, potential replacements of aircraft for this SWISS Airlines route include the A350-900 or the 777-300ER. The new SWISS Airbus A350-900 features the new ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin concept, which you can read about here. This offers an expansion of the Premium Economy product, making it the aircraft with the highest number of seats in this class among the airline’s fleet. With more seating being offered, we should see an increase in availability on the SWISS Premium Economy Global Fare.
SWISS Airlines Chief Commercial Officer expressed excitement, stating, “As well as our new long-haul destinations of Washington D.C., and Toronto, we’ll be adding the extremely attractive destination of Seoul to our Asian network summer in 2024.” This route, revived after 26 years, caters to Zurich’s second-largest East Asian market for point-to-point traffic.
The expansion of SWISS Airlines Global Fare is an exciting opportunity for great value airfares in the market. With the introduction of the ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin concept expected in 2025, SWISS Airlines are proving to be a great quality airfare options in the market.
