New Qantas Dreamliner Routes announced
Passengers flying Melbourne to Los Angeles from December 15th 2017 will be the first to experience the Qantas 787-9 Dreamliner!
The Dreamliner will carry 236 passengers 6 times a week, replacing the current 747 service and running alongside the current daily A380 service. The new Dreamliner schedule takes the total number of Melbourne to LAX flights from 9 to 13 a week, offering passengers the choice of morning or afternoon departures on most days.
The announcement heralds the highly anticipated arrival of the new aircraft to the Qantas fleet and while some will be sad to see the beloved 747’s go, most admit they are looking a little tired.
The new Dreamliners are described as a “game changing aircraft” that has been designed with passenger comfort in mind with larger windows, smoother ride and better air quality to reduce jetlag.
Economy passengers can expect more room with plenty of storage while Business Class passengers will enjoy a fully flat bed and direct aisle access. The airline is also expected to unveil a Premium Economy offering early next year.
In a week of big news for Qantas this announcement follows the confirmation on the weekend of a new Dreamliner service non-stop from Perth to London, linking Australia and Europe direct for the first time.
The Perth to London flight, commencing in March 2018, will take around 17 hours (covering 14,498kms) and has been met with mixed reactions, with some passengers welcoming the option to fly direct and others balking at the thought of 17 hours flying without a break.
Fares on the Dreamliner Melbourne to Los Angeles flight will be available to book from late December, however we’ll need to wait a little longer to book Perth to London. Contact our RTW Airfare experts via our inquiry form: Price My Airfare for more details.
