Finnair or SWISS – Which new Premium Economy is best?
Two of the biggest players in global fares, SWISS and Finnair, have both launched new Premium Economy services in recent months, giving more choice and comfort to passengers.
Finnair have introduced the new seats on all long-haul A350 & A330’s with a 38” seat pitch and memory foam cushions while SWISS have updated their Boeing 777’s using a 39” German designed hard shell seat that when reclined won’t impact on other passengers space.
Both services have the additional perks of a separate cocktail table, leg rest, personal reading light, power outlets and USB ports but SWISS win out with 15.6” entertainment screen against Finnair’s 13”. SWISS provides noise cancelling headphones while Finnair provides access to Nordic Sky Portal allowing you to shop online or download an audiobook with full internet access for an additional cost.
Finnair have accommodated for 1 x 23kg baggage where SWISS offers 2 x 23kg along with priority boarding.
Your tastebuds won’t be disappointed on either service with a hot main course selection served on fine china, but the service is superior on SWISS with an elderberry drink on arrival, an aperitif, complimentary alcoholic beverages and coffee served with the finest Swiss chocolate. There is also the additional option of pre-ordering an a la carte menu for an extra charge on flights departing Switzerland.
Amenities bags are of course provided both with a focus on using sustainable materials but Finnair have gone the extra mile with 8 unique designs from designer Marikmekko.
Both the SWISS Premium Economy Global fare, starting from $4091, and the Finnair Premium Economy RTW Fare, from $4992, are popular multi-continent fares that allow you to arrive at your destination feeling significantly more relaxed than travelling in economy. With many combinations and route options available, you’ll be sure to enjoy your journey in comfort with either service.
