New Lufthansa 787 Dreamliner Business Class
Take a first look at the new Business Class seats on Lufthansa’s newly delivered Boeing 787-9.
Lufthansa purchased 5 Boeing 787-9’s originally intended for China’s Hainan Airlines. The first of the aircraft arrived in Frankfurt in August and spent several weeks undergoing a refurbishment to Lufthansa branding but keeping the already installed 1-2-1 configuration.
The aircraft will have 26 business class seats in a herringbone layout, 21 premium economy seats with a 2-3-2 configuration and 247 economy seats in 3-3-3.
Once the current training flights are complete, the first commercial flight will operate from Frankfurt to Munich on October 19. The most recent reports indicate the first long-haul route will operate between Frankfurt and New York in December. We’ll keep you updated when a date is confirmed.
Lufthansa also has more B787’s and A350’s on order that will feature their newly designed business class product, to be expected in mid 2023. Whether you fly on the refurbished seats or the brand new product, it will still be an upgrade from Lufthansa’s current business class with a 2-2-2 layout, with limited aisle access.
