Singapore Airlines brings A380 back to Melbourne

After a long break, Singapore Airlines is finally bringing the A380 back to Melbourne.

From May 16th 2023 until October 28th 2023, the A380 will replace the current Boeing 777-300ER on one of the four daily flights between Singapore and Melbourne. The change in aircraft will greatly boost seat capacity to meet stronger demand, with Singapore Airlines operating at 110% of pre-Covid capacity to Melbourne.

SQ237 will depart from Melbourne at 4:40pm and arrive into Singapore at 9:20pm. SQ 237 will depart Singapore at 12:25am and arrive into Melbourne at 10:50am.

Business Class passengers can look forward to 78 Business Class seats in the upper cabin of the double decker aircraft.

The following day, May 17th, Singapore Airlines will also bring a second A380 service to Sydney, replacing an existing daily flight currently operated by A350. With the A380 then operating two daily flights, this will allow Suites or First Class to be offered on three of the four daily flights between Singapore and Sydney and allow for 98% pre-Covid seat capacity to Sydney.

Although Singapore Airlines A380 services are being boosted to Australia, the popular route between Singapore and Frankfurt is losing the A380 and being downgraded to the Boeing 777-300ER. Those passengers booked into one of the A380’s six private First Class Suites will now be booked in one of four Boeing 777 First Class seats.
