Which Routes Feature The New Lufthansa Business Class?
Lufthansa have ordered 32 Boeing 787-9s along with 26 A350-900’s and while many are factory fresh and will feature the airlines newly designed ‘Allegris’ Business Class when they begin to arrive from mid-2023, several aircraft will feature a completely different Lufthansa Business Class product.
5 of the Boeing 787-9’s were originally intended for China’s Hainan Airlines. Lufthansa took delivery of the first aircraft in August 2022 with 3 now in operation. The Business Class product is a refurbished version of the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond reverse herringbone, with fully flat seats and a 1-2-1 configuration meaning direct aisle access for all seats. This is a huge improvement on the airline’s previous 2-2-2 product. Flights operated by the new Boeing’s can be included on a range of round the world itineraries with Lufthansa.
The first international flight operated between Frankfurt and Newark on December 1st and with more now in operation, Lufthansa have expanded their routes to include the following:

Lufthansa also acquired four A350-900’s previously intended for Philippine Airlines that features a staggered product in Business Class based on the Vantage XL design from Thompson Aero and still provides direct aisle access for all seats. This will be Lufthansa’s third new Business Class product including ‘Allegris’ and the refurbished B787-9 design and depending on your travel plans and destinations, can be included on a round the world fare with Lufthansa.
The aircraft will be based in Munich and features 30 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy and 241 Economy. The total capacity is similar to the airline’s current A350’s however with more Economy and less premium seating. The A350 currently operates on multiple routes from October 30th 2022 until March 25th 2023 including:
Between Munich and
Delhi, operating daily
Mumbai, operating daily
Denver, six times weekly
Montreal, three times weekly
Multiple flights were also flown on specific dates to Charlotte, Newark, Toronto and Vancouver with little consistency. It is expected that routes between Munich and Toronto/Vancouver will continue to operate throughout the peak season with confirmation imminent.
