Etihad 777-300ER Business Class Review
On our return trip home from Barcelona to Abu Dhabi, we experienced the Etihad 777-300ER Business Class cabin. Having travelled in the Etihad Airways 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner product on the way over, we were interested to see this older product compared to the new.
Etihad 777-300ER Business Class Cabin Layout
Etihad has a few 777 aircraft with some cabin structures having First Class, and others not – in this instance, we were lucky enough to experience the aircraft with the Etihad First Class product.
Our Business Class cabin was broken up in two sections, 2 rows directly behind the 8 First Class seats with a small doorway separating the cabins, and then the majority of the Business Class cabin behind that (with another small doorway and cabin crew meeting area).
To our luck, we were seated in 6H, meaning we were on the right side of the Etihad 777-300ER Business Class cabin, and right up the front. We boarded at the same time as First Class passengers and walked past their cabin which felt a bit odd.
The entire Business Class cabin is made up of 40 Stelia Solstys II seats, all with fully Flat Beds in a 1-2-1 cabin configuration. The layout felt more open, and our seat, 6H, offered both armrests and smaller, practical storage spots that cloud only fit odd-sized items.
Our small section of the front of the Business Class cabin meant we were in close proximity to the cabin crew station and the engines of the aircraft. This made it a bit difficult to hear announcements over the loudspeaker.
Etihad 777-300ER Storage & Amenities
The Etihad 777-300ER Business Class seat design includes both pros and cons. On the positive side, the seats feature convenient power points, two USB A ports, and friendly cabin crew.
The direct aisle access feels spacious, contributing to the overall feeling of a wide, open cabin. However, the storage pockets, although numerous, were not very practical for standard items such as a laptop.
The older Etihad Business Class product also had a separate pull-out table which made it less sturdy than the sliding one which made it impractical to stretch out comfortably especially for those with long legs.
The foot space at the bottom of the seat was also limited, fitting only small items like shoes.
Despite these drawbacks, the amenities provided were satisfactory overall.
We received a blanket, mattress topper and pillow on arrival as well as an Acqua Di Parma amenity kit with products such as toothbrush, toothpaste, hand cream, lip balm, eye mask, socks and hand sanitising wipes. These all helped contribute to a comfortable journey.
Etihad 777-300ER Business Class Inflight Dining
The inflight dining experience in Etihad 777-300ER Business Class had its highs and lows. We started with an Arabic mezze appetiser, which was delicious and well portioned. They had a variety of traditional Arabian delicacies which made it fun to taste and try different dishes.
For the main course, we chose the beef tenderloin, which was surprisingly moist and well-cooked for aeroplane food. The accompanying potato gratin had a vinegary taste, which may be a matter of personal preference, but was average. However, the bernaise sauce was exceptional and steamed carrot and spinach sides bland but alright overall.
We skipped dessert due to being full from the lounge and the late dinner service. Breakfast included a yoghurt bowl that was standard but somewhat plain and tart without enough muesli.
With an amicable selection of beverages to choose from, and tasty champagne, we enjoyed the inflight dining experience Etihad 777-300ER Business Class provided. Other mentions also to the friendly staff.
Etihad 777-300ER Business Class Summary
Overall, our experience with the Etihad 777-300ER Business Class was a comfortable journey. The cabin layout and seat comfort stood out positively, offering a spacious feel with convenient power points and USB ports. However, the numerous storage options were not very practical, and the older pull-out table lacked sturdiness.
The dining experience was a mixed bag. While the beef tenderloin was a highlight, the wilted side salad was disappointing but not a make or break. The friendly cabin crew added to the enjoyment of our Etihad 777-300ER Business Class experience.
